Thanksgiving morning in our family starts with feet hitting the pavement. As I mentioned earlier this week, we’re all participating in a turkey trot tomorrow. There’s something about that morning movement that sets the tone for the entire day.

This year feels especially sweet. My daughter Kate and her husband Patrick are hosting. Brave souls, considering they have a toddler and a newborn. They’re handling the turkey and trimmings while the rest of us bring sides, salads, and desserts.

Then comes the feast. And after? I always head back outside to stretch and let my food settle before diving into the pie… deep dish apple, pumpkin, or if I’m honest, both.
