Earlier this year, I was training for the 29029 TRAIL, and my training was based around lots of hiking and walking (I was getting up to 60 miles of hiking a week). Even though I loved every minute of it, it was quite time consuming, so I spent less time on strength training and minimal to no core workouts.  But after about three months, I started noticing something I didn’t expect… My back hurt. My posture felt off. Even my other workouts were getting a little harder.
 
That’s when it hit me… my core was paying the price! 
 
All that walking and hiking had built my endurance, but without focused core work, I was starting to lose the foundation that supported everything else. Once I started rebuilding my core strength, everything changed.
