3 Breathing Sequences For A Peaceful Day

I’ve been practicing yoga for over 30 years now, and needless to say… and I love it. I’m particularly intrigued by the Eastern idea of energy flow—of moving chi, or energy, through your body. The more freely the energy flows, the healthier and more energetic you feel. When energy is blocked, areas of the body may become tight; over time they can become rigid, even painful. In yoga, as in tai chi, the goal is to keep the body supple through movement and stretching.

Whenever I spend time in a yoga class, or even by doing simple breath work throughout the day, I enter a meditative state and emerge feeling tremendously relaxed and refreshed.

But you know what? You don’t have to be a yogi to get the benefits of having a peaceful day. As much as I love it, I can’t always find the time to squeeze an hour-long class into my schedule. If you don’t have time for a full routine today, try these 3 simple breathing techniques. They will help release tension throughout your day, and they only take a few minutes.
